Head of Football

As you know, Jim Chapman has left the Trust to take up an exciting new full-time coaching post at the University of Kentucky, we have acted quickly to fill this important role. After an open recruitment process with a large field of high quality candidates, we are pleased to let you know that David Clark will be taking on the role in mid September.

David brings a broad range of experience to the post: he holds an Advanced Children's Licence, coaches at Motherwell FC Academy and is a Lead Manager in the football department at Glasgow City Council. He is also a parent within our community programme.

We look forward to David joining us and building on the progress made to date.

Volunteer Coaches

We have recently recruited a number of new volunteer coaches for our community teams. Although we are fully staffed at each team, some of the new coaches will be working with Malcy Taylor until their PVG record is completed.

We are always seeking additional volunteers and welcome applications for coaching or team liaison roles at any time.

Can Collection

As indicated previously, Motherwell FC Community Trust will be carrying out a can collection at the Motherwell FC v Rangers FC fixture on Sunday 26 August. We can accommodate 25 collectors and ask you to sign up online here. Please note applications will be on a first-come-first-served basis.

Fundraising

Two of our brave 2002 parents are taking on the Edinburgh Kiltwalk on Sunday 16 September. If you'd like to join them there are 3 different walks:

The Wee Wander

Approximately 6 miles: perfect for all the family or those unable to complete a bigger challenge. Takes on average 2-3 hours to complete.

The Big Stroll

Approximately 13 miles: an intermediate challenge suitable for most fitness levels, ideal for a fun day out with a group of colleagues or friends. Takes on average 4-6 hours to complete.

The Mighty Stride

Approximately 26 miles: the biggest Kiltwalk challenge! For people looking for the ultimate Kiltwalk experience. Training essential! Takes on average 6-10 hours to complete.

If that's a little too energetic for you we have a race night planned for 2nd November at Fir Park. Further details will follow.

The Trust will also be organising all presentation evenings this year. Dates, venue and arrangements will be out in the next update.

Kit

We still have some tickets left in the Kit Sponsorship raffle. Please assist us with one final push to maximise sales of tickets! The raffle will close on 31 August and new strips ordered for all teams. Until the new kits arrive all teams will continue to play in the regulation all-claret strip which is registered with the league.

Training kit will not change from previous seasons. We will have a kit recycling facility set up in early September. Teams cannot seek sponsorship for training kit: we will be issuing football cards through Team Liaison volunteers which will allow participants to raise funds for training kit.

Please note: all training kit must be purchased through official channels and the use of the Community Trust badge incorporating the Motherwell FC logo is restricted to official merchandise.

Bags

We have provided each team with a crested kit bag for transporting small items to matches and training. We will be placing an order for additional bags for players to buy; these can be ordered through the website here. The first batch will be ordered at the end of August.

Camps

It was great to see so many of you at our busy summer camps. We hope you will join us in October week, on 19 November and on 27-29 December for our next camps.

After-School Club

We have set up a new after-school club at Fir Park from 3pm-4pm each day. Bookings are online here.

Motherwell FC League Matches

As in previous years, community team participants can access one free juvenile ticket for home league fixtures (excluding Celtic and Rangers). Sign up will be online next week.

Thank you all for your support of the Community Trust and all the activities.

Kind regards,

Dawn
